Message from Sonoma County Web Developers:

Dear Members and the Web Development Community,

The Sonoma County Web Developers has been in existence for many years and has brought the county a variety of events and networking possibilities. This letter is to communicate to all involved in SCWD that the board of directors has recently decided to make some changes in the way that we function so that we can continue to be a vital organization to the needs of web developers in and around Sonoma County.

This past year we have been looking very closely at the needs of the web development community and have come to the conclusion that we need to focus on what is most practical and effective. We want to continue to offer our monthly events with speakers who are of great interest and on the "cutting edge" of web design and development. To do this we need to re-focus our energies and become more efficient in providing events that will interest the greatest number of people possible throughout Sonoma County and the surrounding area.

This has led us to decide to shift our focus from being a membership organization, to developing into a group that offers events and networking to all people interested in learning and building their web design and development skills long-term. Therefore we have decided to merge into a group whose sole purpose is to offer networking opportunities and educational presentations without a membership structure.

What does this mean to current members and all who attend out meetings and events?

1. We will continue to offer existing members the benefits they are entitled to, until their time period is up. This includes free admittance to our monthly events.
2. To all others who attend our meetings we will be charging a flat fee of $10 to all events. Effective today.

Our commitment is to:

1. Attract the best presenters possible for our monthly events
2. Provide networking opportunities to all who want to get involved
3. Send out quality Enewsletters to all who have opted in
4. Give web exposure to all those interested in utilizing our website
5. Develop new and innovative ideas to support the growth of the web business in Sonoma County and beyond

Our belief is that there is enough web business to go around, and that if we all work together, our clients and businesses will thrive on the Internet for years to come. We are all unique in what we bring to the web and can enhance its existence only if we break down the "normal" barriers of competitive business practices and band together to bring about a high quality experience to all who are surfing, making money, or developing sites on the web.

We ask you to continue to support our organization and to find new ways to get involved. This may be as simple as giving us feedback on the content of our Enewsletters, suggestions for speakers you would be interested in hearing, or volunteer when we need help with a project.

We are also going to be developing a website directory, to attract potential employers interested in hiring new Designers, Developers and Internet Professionals, and you can benefit greatly by becoming involved in its evolution. We will be redeveloping aspects of our current site to include this and will notify you when we are ready to include those interested.

If you have any feedback on the content of this letter then please email James, mailto:president@sonomawebsig.org, or come to our upcoming events (see http://www.sonomawebsig.org) and talk to any of the board members present.

We welcome all comments and suggestions!

Sincerely,

James Foreman
President
