Touchstone 2005 Project Charter
The Presidents of the six Northern California STC chapters are happy to announce the Touchstone 2005 Technical Communication Competition. Touchstone will consist of an online and print documentation competition. We invite you to consider entering the competition and volunteering to make this competition a success.
The competition will take place in the fall of 2005. Volunteers will have the chance to judge some of the most excellent work in our profession. They will receive training and support for their work. All entries will receive professional evaluations from competition judges.
We will honor volunteers and award-winning entries at a celebratory banquet at the end of the competition in early 2006. All entries that receive an award of Distinguished Technical Communication will be submitted to the STC’s international competition. Planning has already begun. We have directed Gilbert Gonzalez of the San Francisco STC to act on our behalf as the Competition Director. Gilbert will report progress to us regularly. We will monitor the competition’s progress carefully and report its status to you on a regular basis.
As the Competition Director, Gilbert will have executive authority over the competition. The Director will—
• Recruit and supervise an executive board, including online and print competition managers
• Develop a project plan for approval by the presidents
• Manage the competition in a professional manner
• Assure the fiscal integrity of the competition
• Foster a professional atmosphere for entrants and volunteers
• Assure that entries receive professional feedback in a timely manner
If you are interested in volunteering for Touchstone, please contact your chapter president.
We look forward to an enjoyable and successful competition.
